SPWC/86 Meet
Anthony mentioned that he was planning on attending an 86 meet on the August long weekend Sunday, so Vivi and I figured we’d accompany him. Since he rarely has the time now to make for car activities, we wanted to take the opportunity to catch up while also checking out some cars.
It turned out to be somewhat of a smaller meet than I had anticipated, but it was a nice change of pace being slower than the other meets/shows I’ve attended this year. It was probably the first show/meet this year that I wasn’t working a booth, so I really got to enjoy my time walking around and just simply being a spectator.
I’m not sure if the 86 meet just happened to coincide with the SPWC meet today, or it was planned to be merged - but either way this made for diverse group of cars that showed up today.
B8.5 Audi A4 slammed on Audi Rotor wheels. The Nardo Gray wrap was reminiscent of when Anthony and I had wrapped his A3 a few years back…
This photo probably captured about 80% of the vehicles there in attendance today. An intimate gathering, but good nonetheless. In the foreground, a third gen Mitsubishi Eclipse. You don’t see many of these around.
Pictured from left to right; Porsche 997 911, Aldrich’s IS300, JC’s IS350, and a Nissan R33 Skyline.
A pretty clean Golf R.
Some of the 86’s in attendance for 86 day…
This Audi S3 caught my attention. Having owned an 8P3 A3 (miss that car) before, I have a soft spot for Audi wagons. It was one of the more unique cars there since we never got these in North America, so this was a cool one to see in person.
Caught this BRZ owner pulling in. This one with I believe had an Invidia Q300 exhaust - which in my opinion has a great exhaust note. Not overly loud or raspy. I may be biased but I also have an Invidia Q300 on my car which I enjoy for the same reasons.
Clean Evo 7. I would still love to own an Evo 8 or 9 some day…
Missing front bumper on this Evo 5, otherwise looking rad.
Very clean Nissan GTR pulled in right after I snapped the photo of the Evo 5. I think this is a Nismo edition, but not entirely sure - I don’t know anything about these. To me, black paint will always be the best car colour, although the most difficult to maintain. When it’s pulled off right, it looks incredible. This GTR is a good example of that.
Nice Golf GTI on OZ Ultraleggeras. Great colour too.
An interesting rat-rod styled truck… I couldn’t tell you what this started life as, but the rear window makes me think it could be a Toyota Pickup?
A nice Nissan S13. I’ve always really liked the two tone colour-ways. This one on 350Z wheels.
Anthony’s Series 10 FRS sandwiched between two BRZs.
Bright blue MK4 Supra on Work Meister M1. Looks as if this one may have a custom widebody? The fenders, skirts and rear quarter were all moulded together to become seamless.
A very well kept Mazda MX-6. I’ve seen this car before at previous meets and it’s always so clean. Somehow the wheels also are lined up perfectly.
Mini Countryman All4 stanced perfectly on BBS CH-R wheels.
A brand new Mini Cooper John Cooper Works GP. This is pretty hardcore, especially with the carbon fibre fenders. I ended up Googling this car afterwards to learn more about it and it turns out that these are quite rare with only 3000 units being made worldwide... The number that is seen on the front wing corresponds to the numbered unit of each specific GP. This will be a collectors car in the future - if not already.
This is great example of an RS4. Very clean with a bunch of minor details that really add to the overall image of the car. This was one of my dream cars growing up as a kid. This RS4 sporting Work Gnosis GS5 wheels. The front grille was updated using an S6 grille that was modified to fit.
The owner of this RS4 saw us drooling over his car and was kind enough to show us more details he put into his car as well as giving us a look under the hood. There would be absolutely no way of telling that this car was supercharged from just looking at the exterior as there were zero clues giving it away. The owner explained that the V8 lacked the low-mid range power which was solved with the addition of a PES Supercharger system.
Well done.
Sam also came through later with his NSX. Parked beside Aldrich and JC.
Slammed Infiniti Q60.
Aldrin’s Pandem Rocket Bunny FRS.
Another angle of JC’s Lexus.
Crashed an 86 meet in a Honda… Anthony and I were expecting to see a few more 86s, but maybe nobody got the message…
