Rev Up Autoshow 2024 - Calgary

With much anticipation for this year, Rev Up Autoshow has now come and gone. A well done show that brought out a ton of high quality cars. I would confidently say that every car in attendance at the show had every right to be and with this show being paid entry, it actually showcased cars worth paying to see.

This year, the team tried something new with moving the show to an indoor venue at the Telus Convention Centre. Personally, this was a great move as being in an air conditioned building made it much more comfortable for attendees and spectators to enjoy alike. It was about 30+ degrees that day, so I wouldn’t want to be outside in the heat, let alone look at cars outside. The Telus Convention Centre also gave off a more “premium” feel to the show. While there aren’t any issues with parking lot shows, the core of it doesn’t differ much from a car meet, and that can cause issues within the show itself.

I’m not an event planner, so I won’t go into talking about the challenges from a planning perspective, but as an attendee/spectator, it’s really hard to be on concrete all day trying to stay out of the sun. When I’m more focused on trying to avoid sunburn, I don’t seem to really care about cars…

Anyways, point is, the Rev Up team did a great job this year hosting in Calgary. Definitely one of the most premium shows of the year bringing in top talent and in numbers as well.

As soon as you enter through the glass doors on the second floor of the Telus Convention Centre, you are welcomed by this foyer where the show sponsors each had a “feature” car on display. It was unique to see cars parked in this space which typically sees more people during party functions, conferences, events, etc. A lot of people were saying that they were getting Wekfest Seattle vibes, where their venue also allows for something similar…

Andrew’s ISF always looking perfect… The high noon sun coming through the large glass windows made for really nice lighting in this area. Again, such a unique opportunity to see cars parked inside a convention hall with indoor trees and a good amount of natural lighting. I loved how Andrew’s car looked here.

Vex Performance’s rally STi, Andrew’s ISF, and Mark’s newly acquired FL5 Type R sharing centre stage.

Zee’s R34 GTR. Another vehicle that is always looking perfect.

I’m not a big Nissan guy, so don’t quote me, but it looks like this Skyline has the full Z-Tune body kit.

Terrance’s EK on gold 8 spoke CE28n’s. Paint matched First Moulding front lip and what I think is a Charge Speed hood. Side mirrors look like they’re from M Racing.

A Type R rear lip, Seeker rear wing and JDM tail lights wrap up the back end of this EK Civic very nicely. Pretty much fully shaved with emblem, antenna, and wiper deletes. Super clean.

Mercari Auto’s HKS widebody Toyota 86. A very aggressive time-attack styled kit with an eye-catching livery.

Roel’s FK8 Civic Type R with a Varis widebody kit matched nicely with bronze TE37V’s. I think the Varis kit is one of the best looking kits for this chassis. The kit flows well with the factory body lines, adding just a big more to the already aggressive look of a stock FK8 without going overboard. The widebody here still looks proportional to the overall image of the vehicle.

Josh’s recently finished EG Civic that he debuted at Matsuri. I love this car, for very obviously reasons, if you know me. A perfect colour combination 😎.

RA Motorsports AE86.

RA Motorsports brought out two of their racing sims for people to try and play on.

They also had a contest where the racer with the fastest time would win an HKS mug and tumbler.

The RA Motorsports also had this Colorado Trail Boss repping their booth.

Subaru STi with grade A fitment, tucking these SSR Formula Aero Spoke wheels.

So simple and so clean. I’m not sure if people really understand how difficult it can be to dial in fitment like this. The amount of work that need to be made to pull of wheel fitment like can be an exhausting process of trail and error and repetitive adjustments. Props to these guys who play this fitment game.

This STi Sedan with a moulded widebody kit, also with a great set of nicely fitted Work CR-01s.

Minty BMW E90 M3 with perfect paint on BBS RIA.

So clean… I wouldn’t mind owning one of these some day…

Nice off-road Cayenne. I believe this was wrapped… Great colour choice and execution.

Tacoma on some newly released Black Rhino Shogun wheels. I overheard a few people thinking it was the factory Toyota colour, but I believe it’s actually vinyl wrapped as well.

Dave’s Spoon themed Integra Type S (inside joke). Classic car and styling. I personally always love seeing this Integra.

On the other side of Dave is Terry’s Mugen Integra Type R. This car has the full Mugen catalogue. If Mugen makes it, you can be sure that this car has it. What isn’t pictured is the pair of Mugen MS-Z reclinable buckets, a Mugen cluster, and arguably one of the more rare Mugen pieces is the FG360 steering wheel in pristine condition… If you follow the secondhand Mugen market at all, you’ll understand…

Powered by a K20A Kraftwerks supercharger… Terry is all about function. Under the hood here you see that Terry kept the engine easy to work on and accessible. No wire tucks or shaved engine bays here.

J’s Racing equipped FK8 Type R sitting on TE37SLs.

Ed’s well enjoyed and meticulously maintained CRX.

Steve’s F80 BMW M3. Simple with a great fitting set of TEs.

Eric’s 1JZ swapped S15 Nissan Silvia.

Alex’s ISF equipped with a Tom’s carbon front lip and side skirts sitting on some ZE40s.

Toyota A90 Supra with a GBR carbon front lip, side skirt extensions and BBS LMs.

Really well done GDB STi wearing Voltex aero up front, fender flares and a set of good spec TE37 Sagas. Matching pair of Bride seats, 6pt roll cage, Voltex rear wing, this list goes on…

Bryant’s Varis Arising-II kitted Release Series 1.0 Scion FR-S. A real head turner and fan favourite.

Varis Ultimate Subaru GRB STi hatch on Advan GTs. Yet another well put-together and good looking car in the VS ONE Automotive line up.

A well preserved/restored Datsun 240Z showing with VEX Performance.

This Varis Version 2 widebody Evo X looked incredible. I wish I got better photos of this car, but the spacing was quite tight. Trying to remember now what wheels where on here - I want to say they were Volk Racing 21C if I recall. Either way, fantastic looking car with a commanding presence…

VEX Performance’s RX-7 with a very rare Mazdaspeed A-Spec body kit. This is the first time I’ve seen one in person or even online. I couldn’t tell you what’s going on in the engine bay, but I do know that this RX-7 makes big power…

This FC RX-7 slammed on Magnesium Blue TE37s is always a treat to see… the colour contrast between the paint and wheels work so well together.

Classic Mercedes 300 SEL just slammed. What a nice surprise to see something like this at a tuner show, especially being so well preserved. Very cool...

Mexi-flush NA Miata.

Audi RS5 Sportback dumped on air.

Redline Sorority’s FR-S on hot pink Gram Light 57DRs.

Another slammed luxury sport car on air suspension from Redline Sorority - this one being an Infiniti Q60.

Focus RS on Fifteen52 Rally Sport Tarmac wheels, carbon fenders, hood and spoiler. The headlight film giving an oil slick appearance is interesting.

Toyota Aristo looking clean.

Very clean EG Civic with a wire tucked K-swap.

AP1 S2000 with Mugen MC10L wheels, J’s Racing front half spoiler, J’s Racing rear trunk spoiler, and Spoon brakes.

Beautifully done Nissan S15 on SSR Professor SP1s. Great looking bumper and skirts by Wise Square, and Ganador side mirrors.

ArcticAngus’s Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R on TE37s…

Toyota Chaser JZX100 with deep concave Advan GTs.

Scott’s Factory Nismo 370Z. Such nice body lines.

Jay’s Subaru STi. There are so many little details to this car that Jay doesn’t care to share, although I’m sure many people would interested to see…

Chester’s Seeker FD Civic. Inside there is a matching pair of Recaro RMS bucket seat. Well done…

First Gear Auto R33 Skyline on Volk 21Cs. This was one of my favourites of the show. Again, another well done car with a ton of details and lengthly number of upgrades.

HKS everything.

A complete HKS 2.8L RB26DETT engine…

FL5 Type R on Umber Bronze Advan GTs.

A90 Supra kitted with an Aimgain front lip, carbon hood, EVS Tuning side mirrors, Voltex swan neck wing, Bride buckets and TE37SLs.

Carlo’s F80 M3 on TE37 Saga S Plus looking proper as always.

VW Jetta on Rotiform LHR wheels.

Xavier’s air-ride S550 with custom metal wide fenders.

Suzuki Carry. I used Google Translate to translate the kanji characters on the truck and it gave me “Arashi Service”, which I then googled again and that led me to believe that this Carry did actually serve as a delivery truck back in Japan (of course, assuming that’s where it came from). Has some really cool wheels too.

Origin Lab kitted S15 Silvia. Really a beautiful car. I remember seeing this at Rev’d Performance’s Dyno day last year and thinking the same thing. So good.

Audi SQ5 lowered on a large set of BBS CH-Rs.

Slammed Audi RS6 Avant.

Millennium Jade wrapped WRX from VA Society with some carbon bits and a Varis Arising II front bumper.

Simple and clean FK8 rolling on CE28SLs, EVS Tuning front carbon lip and a Voltex rear wing.

Boosted tenth gen Civic Si with a Kevmannz(?) wide body.

Bill’s Focus SE looking clean on a set of Fifteen52 Rally Sport Tarmacs.

F82 M4 with a Laptorr front lip, Voltex swan neck wing and TE37SLs.

V2 Nismo Nissan 370Z.

EM1 Civic on some period correct Kosei K1s.

F80 M3 on Apex wheels and some carbon additions.

This Lexus 3IS with an NIA(?) front lip and side skirts looks really nice. Very clean.

Shaun’s WRX at the Tuner Spirit booth.

Tuner Spirit’s widebody S5.

Moulded widebody WRX also with the Tuner Spirit’s booth.

Funky Garage and Fake Hero’s display STi and S15 in matching yellow wraps. As a side note, both had custom designed spoke decal stickers featuring waifus. A cool easter egg as they kept it subtle. They had some cool merch designed by local artists (also featuring waifus) for sale too.

Clean EM1 with the Garage 111 team. Classic combo with 8 spoke bronze CE28Ns on Milano Red. Nice touches with the front lip, hood and side mirrors in carbon.

JP’s Acura NA1 NSX with a set of Regamaster Evo Brights.

John’s Boosted Civic Ferio.

Varis widebody STi. I liked the contrast of the Racing Green TE37 Sagas against the yellow wrap here.

JC’s IS350 with Mag Blue TE37 Sagas. Always clean.

Punit’s K24 swapped Integra, which is no stranger to Calgary locals and still perfect sitting on Mugen M7s.

Phil’s ASM catalogue S2000 and Mugen hardtop. An aggressive set of TE37s and Yokohamas completes this build perfectly as their Titanium Silver finish contrasts the custom wine red paint job so well.

Kai’s Varis widebody STi painted Metallic Millennium Jade on a wide set of Almite Bronze Volk 21C. Kai and Phil both made the trip down to Calgary from Winnipeg, both having just finished their builds just days before the Rev Up show with Kai “officially” revealing his latest rendition of his STi here at the show. Just like every car at the show, this one in particular had an incredible amount of details through-out. It shows incredibly well in-person and really a car where photos don’t fully do justice.

It was really a treat for the Calgary locals to see talent from out of Province, especially two heavy hitters like Phil’s S2000 and Kai’s STi. Thanks for making the trek!

Regular traffic. Still have some changes for the car, but having trouble lately making time…

Brandon’s DC5 RSX with a J’s front bumper, fenders and Mugen hood. Brandon’s car shows extremely well for how hard he tracks this car, especially with black paint.

Certified track car as you can see with Asimo watching Brandon’s track recordings on the Garmin Catalyst.

Jamie’s real JDM EK9 Civic Type R with the full spoon catalogue thrown at it.

Alex’s restomod Integra Type R which is no stranger to the blog. An absolute perfect and complete build.

Nelson’s track built RSX Type S. Bronze CE28N, Mugen hood, matching leather Sparco QRT buckets, lightweight FAL rear hatch window - just a few of the notable modifications here.

Danny’s boosted BB6 Prelude. He recently got the Mugen MF10s and they look great against the Porsche grey paint.

Nick’s K20 swapped DB8 Integra, also on MF10s. He just recently installed a matching pair of new gen 3 Spoon bucket seats.

Danny’s 911 with a new set of Advan GT Premium.

Jackson’s 911 with GT3 Cup aero on Advan GT Premiums as well. A couple of besties.

Porsche 718 Boxster.

Rhy’s track M3 showing off a new livery for this year. I think these are new wheels too.

Alex’s Nissan GTR looking much cleaner this year with the TE37 Ultras and the removal of his front lip splitter and side skirt extensions.

BMW E46 M3 with Work VS-XX wheels and a widebody kit.

Levi’s R32 GTR which is also no stranger to Calgary. He swapped out his Nismo LMGT4 for his set of TE37s for this year.

Rev Up Autoshow awards this year, produced by Blackbox Customs.

Carlo - if you don’t already know, who is one of the many faces behind the Rev Up Autoshow. Carlo and his team have been working tirelessly throughout the entire year to make these shows happen. While they have been in Edmonton for a few years already, this is only their second show in Calgary, and will also be their second in Vancouver this August.

These guys have done a fantastic job in planning and organizing a successful car show for our community. Many others have tried to step up and fulfill that “premium” car show space that had been left vacant with illmotion’s departure from the scene, but Rev Up, in my opinion has been the one of the few that have been able to produce a show that brings out the same quality of cars we once saw with illmotion’s Sunday School.

It’s not an easy job to do - so I’m thankful that there are teams of people who are out there trying to push our car scene further and bring together our community. This sentiment extends past just the Rev Up team - so if you are an organizer for any of our local shows - thank you.

Lucky raffle prize winner of the Cusco x Bride collaboration Zeta 4 bucket seat. One of the prize give-aways from the show.

Back out into the entry hallway as roll-out begins. Nick’s 911 GT3 in the hallway entry.

As roll out started, everyone was getting ready in their cars as they waited to exit the venue. Since roll-out was divided into sections I ended up hanging back as my section was one of the last to leave and I’m pretty glad it was. As cars started leaving, I saw an opportunity to get some more photos, however, this time it was much more exciting to capture.

If you follow the blog on Instagram, I mentioned how taking photos of cars at a show can get boring pretty quickly. You typically can only get the same angle of every car and all your pictures end up looking the exact same. It just feels uninspiring and you have to work harder to find the good shot, but sometimes that doesn’t even work out.

Now during roll out, since there is some movement introduced, the composition of each photo has changed a bit. I tried to get as different angles, but the cars were moving fast.

Beefy rear tires. Love how the car being on and even moving slowly makes for a more interesting photo over a parked car.

Ford Mustang that was cool until the owner stopped right at the garage doors and decide that nobody inside the venue needed to hear anymore and hit the rev limiter. I felt bad for the one security staff who was right beside the car at the time - I saw the man wince. This shit is fucking loud especially inside and when the owner did that with zero notice.

Why can’t people simply leave in peace? How many times does this need to be said for people to understand a simple thing? You had your car entered in a show for an entire day and you still feel the need to show off at roll-out? There is always just one person who has to make it about themselves.

Anyways, besides the one person, everyone else left respectfully, so not to make it a focus point, but stop doing this shit.

Unreal to see this car rolling - especially after being crammed in a lineup of cars.

Once space cleared up in the venue, it made for some really nice shots with the background being less distracting.

Jamie saying “BAI BAI”.

🔥🔥

Eric’s M3 debuting a new colour change for the body and wheels. I missed getting a photo of this parked, but got an OK one of him leaving…

Anthony’s RSX which I also didn’t get a photo of parked, but happy I caught this.

Wooster’s perfectly restored and preserved EK9 Civic Type R. The attention to detail here is seriously next level.

Hoang’s EM1 Civic SiR. This car has been around for a while and hasn’t changed for years but it’s still nice to see it as I don’t believe it gets driven much anymore…

Brian’s EG with DC2 headlights. Another one of those cars that has been done so well and hasn’t changed for years but still nice to see as it only comes out once in a blue moon…

Mark’s FL5 Civic. I was able to get a decent photo in the evening since I tried during the afternoon but the lighting coming through the windows was too harsh. Spoon SW388 to go with his Spoon styled front lip (only because I don’t believe the Spoon lip is available yet, but I could be wrong).

Inside has a Spoon Sports steering wheel paired with a Zestek Racing Hub quick release set up.

Along with a matching set of carbon Recaro Podium bucket seats.

Terrance getting packed up and ready to roll out.

That’s all for my coverage of the 2024 Calgary Rev Up Autoshow. Looking forward to capturing more car things happening this year.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading!
